Super Bowl LVIII is in less than two weeks, and prices to watch the spectacle live are going at an unbelievable price.
The cheapest resale ticket — known as the “get-in” price — for the Super Bowl in 2024 is $9,850, according to the selling platform SeatGeek.
The average resale ticket price, with all fees included, is a whopping $12,082. That is 36% more than the average price of a ticket last year Super Bowl with a little less than two weeks still to go before the big game.

TickPick has a different price on its site — reporting a get-in price of $8,188 and an average price of $9,815. But even at the lower price, TickPick still reports that it is the most expensive Super Bowl on record.
So why is this year’s Super Bowl so expensive?

Well, it’s not because you get to see Taylor Swift (though major celebrity sightings are already baked into the Super Bowl experience every year).
The big difference this year is the location of the game.
The Super Bowl has always been played at a neutral site — unless a team at the preselected location just so happens to make the game that year, like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did in 2021 and the Los Angeles Rams did in 2022. But unless that happens, many fans are then expected to travel to these games.
This year’s Super Bowl is located in one of America’s favorite travel destinations: Las Vegas. The game will be played in Allegiant Stadium, the home arena of the Las Vegas Raiders, and it’s the first time that Sin City is hosting the “Big Game.”
SeatGeek told TheStreet that the Vegas location is the lever they believe is driving up ticket prices. The average ticket price in Glendale, Arizona last year was $8,907, which was down from the $10,322 it cost in 2022 when the game was in Los Angeles.
The only other Super Bowl to average over five-figures in sales over the last half-decade was in 2021 when the game was played in Tampa and the average ticket price was $11,840. But that price hike was due to the limited capacity caused by the pandemic.

It also helps that this year’s game is packed with storylines, and it’s not limited to whether Swift makes it to the game from her concert in Tokyo the night before.
For the Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes is playing in his fourth Super Bowl in five years, and a win would boost the 28-year-old’s legacy immeasurably. A win would also cement Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce, and head coach Andy Reid as one of, if not the, best quarterback-receiver-coach trio in the history of the league.
On the other side, the 49ers have been starved of a Super Bowl since 1995. They have a stacked team on offense and defense. But they have questions at quarterback with Brock Purdy, a 24-year-old who was drafted with the last pick in 2022, but has played well for the team. A win for the 49ers would not only bring joy to the Bay Area, but Purdy dethroning one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time in the process would be a true Cinderella story for the NFL.
