Las Vegas Strip hotel-casino operators are always competing to sign the biggest names in entertainment for residencies. 

Theater operators, such as Caesars Entertainment  (CZR) , MGM Resorts International  (MGM)  or Wynn Resorts  (WYNN) , will sign entertainers for as few as a handful of shows to hundreds for the most popular acts.

Some headliners have even become permanent fixtures at certain hotel casinos. 1970s superstar singer Barry Manilow has one of the longest running residencies with his record-breaking run at the International Theater in the Westgate Las Vegas off the Strip.

In September 2023, Manilow broke Elvis Presley’s record of 636 sold-out shows at the International Theater in the Westgate Las Vegas off the Strip, which was known as the International Hotel in 1969 when Presley first performed there.

The “I Write the Songs” singer will continue performing his residency well into next year. He signed an extension to his Westgate engagement for 48 more shows from Feb. 13 to Dec. 13, 2025.

1970s teen idol Donny Osmond began his residency at Harrah’s Las Vegas Showroom in August 2021 and continues on the Strip at Harrah’s through Nov. 16, 2024.

Mr. Las Vegas Wayne Newton, who got his first Vegas headlining gig in 1963, continues performing at the Flamingo’s Bugsy’s Cabaret Showroom through Dec. 30, 2024.

Lady Gaga performed her sold-out “Enigma + Jazz & Piano” residency to Dolby Live’s predecessor the Park Theater at the Park MGM from Dec. 28, 2018, through May 1, 2022. Lady Gaga returned to Dolby Live with her “Jazz + Piano” residency in August 2023 and finished on July 6, but told the audience that she plans to return with another residency.

Superstar singer Adele is another residency that hit the 100 mark for total performances. The “Hello” singer opened her Weekends With Adele residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in November 2022 and played to sellouts since taking the stage. Adele’s 100-show residency will end Nov. 23, unless she extends it again.

When Resorts World opened on the Strip in December 2021, it marked the beginning of country superstar Carrie Underwood’s “Reflection” residency, which continues Oct. 16, 18, 19, 23, 25 and 26 and March 26, 28, 29, April 2 and 5.  

Finally, iconic Las Vegas Strip headliner Janet Jackson has scheduled her all-new residency at Resorts World Las Vegas beginning Dec. 30-31 and continuing Jan. 3, 4 and Feb. 5, 7, 8, 12, 14 and 15.

Tickets for the 10-show residency at the 5,000-seat Resorts World Theatre go on sale to the general public Aug. 28 at 10 a.m. Pacific time at axs.com. Artist presale begins Aug. 26 at 10 a.m. Pacific, while AEG, AXS, Resorts World and Spotify presales begin Aug. 27 at 10 a.m. Pacific.

The “Nasty” singer’s most recent Las Vegas residency was her “Metamorphosis” shows at MGM Resorts International’s  (MGM)  Park MGM from May 17-Aug. 17, 2019.

Jackson will take her “Together Again” tour to Europe, beginning Sept. 25 in Paris and finishing in Glasgow, Scotland, on Oct. 13 before starting her Vegas residency.
