Sometimes a cruise line makes a change and it angers passengers.

When Carnival made bacon an every-other-day offering at breakfast in the Lido Marketplace buffet, many passengers were outraged. It works the other way too as people were pretty damn thrilled when it decided to add Guy Fieri’s Guy’s Burger Joint to every ship in the fleet.

Carnival’s latest change, however, is more subtle — even though you can’t possibly miss it. The cruise line has finished updating the hull livery across its fleet.

Livery, of course, isn’t a word people use in everyday life. In the cruise ship world, it’s the design and paint scheme used on a ship’s exterior.

In theory, a cruise line’s livery should stand out and let people know “that’s a Disney/Royal Caribbean/MSC cruise ship without needing to see a logo.

Carnival has slowly been updating the livery across its fleet and that project has been finished.

Carnival has finished its fleet upgrade

“Adorned with the red, white and blue hull livery that’s become the signature look of America’s Cruise Line, Carnival Panorama returns to service Oct. 12, from a 24-day dry dock in Singapore. The ship is the final one in Carnival Cruise Line’s 27-ship fleet to receive its hull livery and the latest vessel to sport a variety of enhancements.,” according to the cruise line.

The ship did not just get a paint job. It was enhanced in a number of ways.

“A non-smoking casino has been added near the main casino. Guests who love to shop will also find an all-new Effy Fine Jewelry store and a new Carnival Adventures store amid the refurbished Fun Shops. A Dreams Studio, where guests can schedule photo shoots with the ship’s professional photographers, was also added, as well as a new mini golf area. The ship also received a number of technical updates,” according to the cruise line.

Carnival and rival Royal Caribbean have been adding secondary, smoke-free casinos to their ships when possible. That’s a way offer non-smokers a chance to gamble without exposing them to the smoke in the main casino that tends to not confine itself to the smoking section.

Carnival Panorama sets sail on Oct. 12 on a 25-day transpacific Carnival Journeys cruise from Singapore where she will make Carnival Cruise Line’s first-ever stop in Manila, Philippines on Oct. 18. Once she arrives in Long Beach on Nov. 5, Carnival Panorama will begin sailing a variety of five-, six- and seven- day itineraries to the Mexican Riviera,” according to the cruise line.
