The role of a cruise director varies based on the cruise line. On some cruise lines, it’s a public position that delivers the daily announcements, hosts some shows, and serves as a visual presence on the ship.
On a Carnival Cruise Line cruise, the cruise director is the unabashed social captain of the ship. It’s a very forward-facing position that requires an incredible amount of showmanship and nearly endless energy.

You will see a Carnival cruise director host a daily television show in the morning and a late show in the theater. It’s hard to imagine when these hard-working cruise leaders sleep, but they seem to be everywhere, serving as the personification of the cruise line’s “fun ship” slogan.
Kyndall “Fire” Magyar has long been one of Carnival’s most popular cruise directors. She recently returned to her post on Carnival Jubliee after a vacation and she document her return on her Instagram page.

Welcome back to a day in the life of a cruise director. This is our sign-on day edition.
First, you get up, brush your teeth, wash your face, and put on a little bit of makeup after choosing what you’re going to wear for the day. Then, you have to repack all of your bags and get out to the ship.

I got myself a little transportation that took me straight to the front of the vessel but this isn’t where you actually get on the ship. We go through multiple different security checkpoints, and then we finally head towards the ship where we go through a few more onboarding processes, dropping off our medicals before we get to go over to our rooms.
Once I was at the room, I dropped my bags off because it wasn’t quite ready for me yet so I swung by the office, checked some emails, got kind of reacquainted with what’s been going on with the ship while I was gone and then I headed upstairs.

As debark was still happening, I wanted to say hello to the new team members, the old team members, and, of course, say goodbye to Louis, who’s been holding the ship down.
Then I took a walk around the ship whenever no guests were on board, officially taking over as cruise director again, saw the HD and of course some other familiar faces before heading back to the room as it was finally ready for me to start moving in and all of this was done before 12.
