Guy’s Burger Joint has been a staple on Carnival cruises ever since the celebrity chef partnered with the cruise line to create the dining option in 2011. The burgers served at Guy’s are often ranked as one of the best (or the best) on any cruise line and have been so successful that they have even led to nine land-based locations around the world.

The menu is rather simple, with five main burger options, including popular options such as The Ringer, which features Guy’s Bourbon and Brown Sugar BBQ sauce and an onion ring, and the Pig Patty, which is Guy’s take on a bacon cheeseburger.

While hours can vary depending on the ship, itinerary, and day, they generally open for lunch and close for the day in the late afternoon. 11:30am until 6pm would be an example of Guy’s typical operating hours.

What you might not know is that Guy’s Burger Joint offers breakfast – on one Carnival ship. But many cruisers hope that will change soon.

Guy’s Burger Joint’s breakfast menu

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Carnival tested breakfast at Guy’s Burger Joint on select ships. A 2021 report showed that Carnival planned to roll out breakfast on its then-newest ship, Mardi Gras, on seas days.

But this appeared to be a short-lived test and it’s unclear whether it ever actually happened on Mardi Gras.

In a Facebook thread, several cruisers confirmed seeing Guy’s breakfast offered on ships before the pandemic, but not since.

Now, the only confirmed reports of breakfast being served at Guy’s Burger Joint are on the Carnival Sunrise, which offers sailings to the Bahamas and Caribbean out of its home port of Miami. Several cruisers who sailed on Sunrise recently confirmed the breakfast was available, as recently as last week.

There are several social media and cruise blogs that have previously shared a breakfast menu from Guy’s Burger Joint, and it shows that there are four items offered:

Plain Joe – A breakfast burger with a beef patty, fried eggs, cheese, and maple donkey sauce (a sweetened version of the “donkey sauce” used on Guy’s lunch burgers. All American – A breakfast burger with a beef patty, fried eggs, cheese, bacon, tomato, a hashbrown patty, and maple donkey sauce.Prime Time Turkey – A turkey sausage patty, maple gravy, provolone, bacon, hashbrown, and maple donkey sauce on a French toast bun.Good Morning Morgan – A no-meat option with a vegetable frittata patty, tomato, hashbrown, and maple donkey sauce on a bun. Essentially a breakfast veggie burger.

Many Carnival cruisers want their burgers for breakfast

In the same Facebook thread referenced earlier, many cruisers reported that they haven’t seen breakfast at Guy’s Burger Joint on their travels – but want to. Facebook user Mel Issa commented “Bring me that Prime Time Turkey & add some cheese please.” Alana Walker said, “I can’t wait to see it!.”

Of course, not everyone agrees. Lori Leone, who tried Guy’s breakfast on Sunrise, said that the food was “definitely not as good as their regular burgers.” Matthew Kisha commented “All of these sound great until he gets to maple donkey sauce. Lost me there.”

Overall, the responses of those who offered an opinion is that they’d like to see the breakfast on more ships. To be clear, we have no idea if Carnival plans to roll this out on a wider scale at any point, and a request for comment wasn’t returned at the time of this writing. But for the time being, it appears that if you want a burger for breakfast on a Carnival ship (and you wake up before noon), there’s only one ship where you can get one.
