Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but in this economy, it’s almost impossible not to skip it to save a few bucks.

Over the last few months, food costs have skyrocketed in the U.S., especially eggs, which reached an all-time high this year.

IHOP stays true to its value-focused approach with a money-saving deal

Although it seems that most restaurants are increasing their prices, one popular breakfast chain decided to do the opposite and remain committed to its value-focused approach.

In March, IHOP  (DIN)  unveiled the new Everyday Value Menu, featuring four of the chain’s most popular breakfast combos at just $6 to $7 each, depending on the location. It also made the menu available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. so guests could enjoy breakfast all day.

The menu featured select fan-favorite dishes, including the Breakfast Faves Combo, House Scramble, Ham & Cheese Omelette, and French Toast Breakfast.

As unbelievable as this deal sounded, it was real, but there was a catch. This value menu was being tested for a limited time until June 1 in only four U.S. cities: Baltimore, Maryland; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Jacksonville, Florida; and Fresno-Visalia, California.

However, a deal this good, paired with customers’ favorite IHOP menu items, was a value strategy meant to succeed.

Consumer demand for the Everyday Value Menu seems to have exceeded IHOP’s expectations. Only two months after the launch of this pilot, the company decided to extend this offer to all restaurants nationwide.

IHOP makes one of its best deals available nationwide and other chains follow

After a name rebranding and a few months of testing, IHOP is now offering the $6 House Faves menu at all its U.S. restaurants.

This deal still offers the same fan-favorite selection as the Everyday Value Menu for around $6 to $7, and is only available on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

However, IHOP is not the only chain trying to win over customers with value deals.

Its biggest breakfast rival, Denny’s  (DENN) , has returned the $2/4/6/8 Value Menu to all restaurants nationwide, offering even more options.
