Pre-Market Movers: Hertz, New Fortress Energy, Sarepta, Exact Sciences

Per MarketWatch, here are this morning’s biggest movers and losers:

Movers

Hertz Global Holdings (+27.3%) is having a dominant performance this morning after announcing record utilization and a return to profitability on an earnings per share basis, a massive turnaround for a company which filed for bankruptcy just a few short years ago. It’s also joined by New Fortress Energy (+19.5%), which surged on reports it would undertake a possible debt restructuring.

In other earnings stories this morning, Exact Sciences (+8.4%) and dental/medical supply company Henry Schein (+8%) were also notable risers; so too was Spotify (+5.3%).

Losers

At the bottom of the market, a struggling Sarepta Therapeutics (-36%) managed to exceed earnings expectations, but shook investors after a confirmatory study for its questionable Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) drug failed, introducing bigger questions about its commercial viability.

Joining Sarepta at the bottom of the market was Zoetis (-12%), which reduced its annual revenue forecast. There was also Norwegian Cruise Line (-9.7%), which sank after missing revenue forecasts. Palantir (-8.3%) also sold off despite a beat and raise.

Everything Happening (That We Know Of)

Good morning. Today marks the 35th day of the U.S. government shutdown, tying it for the distinction of being the longest such closure in history. And with no end still in sight, there’s no telling how long the new record will be once we tip over into tomorrow.

Ironically, it’s also Election Day, which means it’s time to get in your ballot if you’re having any local or state-wide elections. To see what’s on your ballot or make a plan to vote today, check out vote.org.

A.M. Earnings: Shopify, Uber, Spotify
