As a lover of both new and vintage Coach bags, I have a small but growing collection of everything from mini bags to shoulder bags. However, my current lineup is filled with smaller silhouettes best suited for holding only a handful of essentials. For shopping trips and running errands, I turned to classic canvas tote bags for years. That is, until I came across the Coach Mott Messenger Bag 33.
The $295 Mott Messenger Bag went viral in 2025 as the perfect fall bag. It’s so spacious and has the perfect amount of slouch that gives it a refined, elevated, and somehow relaxed look. It was on my wishlist for quite some time. Then, it sold out everywhere. I checked Coach, Coach Outlet, and other retailers, but it was nowhere to be found. I only got lucky when I checked Coach Outlet, and there happened to be just two left in stock. I purchased it immediately, and now, you can too. Why the Mott Messenger is so popular
The leather messenger bag is available in two colors: Black and Maple. I have more black bags than I can count, so I opted for the brown hue. It’s a beautiful, rich color with silver hardware and accents that can go with any outfit. When I first opened the box, the bag didn’t have that dreamy slouch and was quite structured. But with more use, the material starts to soften, and it eventually gets that boho-like slouchy look.
In addition to the Maple color, I was drawn to how spacious it is. It offered the same roomy feel as a tote bag, but in a much more elevated package. I especially loved how I could fit my 13-inch laptop in it, even when it’s inside a slim carrying case. With a laptop, it does look more boxy and less slouchy, but that doesn’t bother me one bit. It’s spacious enough to fit even more items, including my wallet, a mini water bottle, a foldable shopping bag, and more. There’s a pocket with a button closure inside that I use to store lip balm, sunglasses, and hand sanitizer.
The adjustable strap also won me over. With 18 inches to work with, you can wear it as a shoulder bag or a crossbody bag. There’s also a movable loop on the strap, so when you wear it as a shoulder bag, it keeps most of the excess strap secured.
