Why I love this collection
Puffer designs have been a popular accessory trend for quite some time. I’ve seen them in all sorts of silhouettes, from purses to backpacks. So when I had the chance to try a few from one of my favorite backpack brands, Herschel, I jumped at the chance to test them out.
Herschel is known for its stylish bags, many of which boast vintage-inspired designs. It’s one of the things I admire most about them. It takes an everyday accessory and elevates it with thoughtful details. But earlier this year, the brand launched a Cloudform collection, which featured trendy cloud-like material. It felt unexpected from its traditionally retro aesthetic, but I loved the minimalist-meets-modern look that’s both stylish and practical. The collection started out with a backpack, a duffel, and a messenger bag. Now, a tote bag has also been added to the lineup.

Cloudform Backpack 22L, $77 (was $110) at Herschel
Plush and practical, the Cloudform Backpack is one of my favorite backpacks that I own, and it’s 30% off. It has a 22-liter capacity, with enough room for commuting to the office, running around campus, or as a personal item on a plane. It has a water bottle pocket on each side for easy access to small items, and it has cushioned straps that feel comfortable on the shoulders. It has a padded sleeve inside that can fit laptops up to 15 inches in size, too. The puffer design, on top of the padded sleeve, keeps my laptop (and anything else inside my backpack) a little extra protected, which is a major advantage of the cloud-like design.

Cloudform Duffel 26L, $110 (was $130) at Herschel
The Cloudform Duffel is made for travel with a lightweight design, and it’s on sale for 15% off. It’s been a great travel companion that’s spacious enough to fit my belongings, but light enough that it doesn’t weigh me down. The main compartment features a laptop sleeve, so even though it’s designed for travel, it can also be used for commuters, students, or even gym goers who need a little extra room. As I mentioned above, the puffer material acts like extra padding, which makes my belongings feel extra secure while I travel.
The only thing missing is a longer, detachable shoulder strap that many other weekender bags have. Even though the straps are comfortable and on the long side, it’d be nice to have the option for crossbody wear.
