Why we love this deal

If you’re always cold, chances are you’re usually looking for ways to stay warm, especially now that the temperatures are dropping. Fall-approved apparel, like flannels and sweaters, may be a solid go-to, but when you need even more warmth, a personal space heater is the way to go. Instead of turning on the heat for the entire house, a mini space heater can provide just the right amount of warmth in a small, designated area. It can help keep you cozy, and it can do so without increasing any household bills, which is a major bonus.

As someone who is trying to hold off on turning up the heat until it’s absolutely necessary, I was searching for a small and affordable personal space heater when I came across the Mainstays Personal Electric Space Heater at Walmart. Its small, sleek, and simple design caught my eye at first, but when I saw its $11 price tag and 4.6-star rating, I thought it was a steal. I was instantly sold, and I bought it at the closest Walmart store as soon as I could.

Why do shoppers love it?

During the fall and winter, my hands get cold so fast that it can be tough to type, which isn’t ideal for someone who writes for a living. I got this little space heater to help warm me up while I work, and it’s been a dream to use. After unboxing, I plugged it in, and with a flip of a switch, I was met with instant heat. As a ceramic heater, it provides heat quickly, like a fan with warm air, unlike traditional space heaters that need time to warm up.

It’s super compact, weighing just over 1 pound, so it’s easy to move around. I’ve been using it on my desk, turning it on when I need an extra heat boost, and it takes up about as much space as a coffee mug.

Details to know

  • Heating coverage: 40 square feet.
  • Watts: 400 watts.
  • Weight: 1.05 pounds.
  • Colors: Stone, black, blue, and red.

With 400 watts, it provides just the right amount of targeted warmth that’s perfect for personal heating. According to the manufacturer, it only covers around 40 square feet of space, so don’t expect it to heat up an entire room.

It’s also equipped with safety features. It has built-in protections from tipping over and overheating, automatically turning off before it gets too hot or tips over. I’ve tested the tip-over feature, and even when I pick up the heater, it turns off right away. I’ve only been using it throughout the workday, so I haven’t experienced it getting too hot yet. As of now, the sides are pretty cool to the touch even when it’s on.
