Why we love this deal
Luxury watches used to be the exclusive purview of the rich, but that’s changing. Thanks to brands like Citizen and Bulova, the rest of us can get in on the fun without spending a fortune. In fact, one of the best places to find a new luxury watch at a reasonable price is Amazon. The online retailer is even selling a watch that’s an important piece of history at a sale price that we can hardly believe. We think it’ll have you feeling over the moon too.
The Bulova Archive Series Lunar Pilot Chronograph is available for $490. That’s a discount of 35% off the regular price of $750. If you think that makes it worth buying, wait until you hear the story behind this incredible timepiece.

Why do shoppers love it?
According to Bulova (and the historical record), Apollo 15 mission commander David Scott wore his personal Bulova Lunar Pilot, which was a prototype from the brand, on the surface of the moon on August 2, 1971. The crystal on his Nasa-issued Omega Speedmaster had broken, so he used his Bulova instead. That watch later sold at auction for 1.62 million dollars. Bulova later released this commemorative model inspired by that watch. It has a case size of 45 millimeters for extra-clear legibility. This model includes a black PVD-coated stainless steel case and a leather nato-style strap.
The deep black dial has three subdials, typical of a pilot’s chronograph. The sub-registers measure running seconds, minutes, and hours respectively. It has applied hour markers with substantial amounts of luminescent coating so you can read the time in the dark. The handset also has luminescent coating for legibility. The extra-long pushers on either side of the crown are designed for easy use, even when wearing gloves, which is typical for astronauts in space.
The movement inside is a high-frequency quartz-regulated Bulova chronograph movement. It’s highly accurate and built to last. In fact, this watch is far more accurate than most luxury mechanical Swiss watches, and you should only need to change the battery every few years. It also has a water resistance of 50 meters, so you’re free to stroll in a rain shower or wash the dishes without fear. If you’re a fan of outer space, history, and great-looking timepieces, then you’re likely to be impressed with this gorgeous watch.
