Yes, Apple just introduced a 14-inch MacBook Pro with M3, but if you don’t want to spend $1,599 or have an undying appreciation for the Touch Bar, we found a deal for you.

The now discontinued 13-inch MacBook Pro with M2 is seeing a 19% discount on Amazon, now just $1,049. That’s $250 off the regular price of $1,299 in Space Gray, but given that this model is no longer being produced, this deal is only available while supplies last.

It might not boast the buttery smooth display of the 14-inch MacBook Pro or the better port selection, but the 13-inch sports a feisty processor with a cooling system and long battery life, all wrapped in a classic Mac design. Of course, it also boasts the Touch Bar, a screen at the top of the keyboard that adjusts function based on the application you’re in.

Apple

Unlike the 13-inch MacBook Air with M2, the 13-inch MacBook Pro pairs the better-specced M2 chip—thanks to an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU—with an active cooling system that lets this laptop power through more advanced tasks for longer.

How? Well, it can keep the processors cooler even while running through these processes, like batch photo editing, 3D rendering, or large video exports. This specific configuration pairs the M2 chip with 8GB of RAM, and versus the MacBook Air, you get two additional GPU cores.

With whatever task you’re running in macOS Sonoma, the M2 Chip can power through nearly all of it without skipping a beat. We’d also bet you won’t hear the fan kick on that often. You can see our full thoughts on the 13-inch MacBook Pro with M2 in our review here.

The display is a classic 13.3-inch Retina with support for the P3 Wide Color standard and a maximum brightness of up to 500 nits. Given its classic nature, it does have thicker bezels all around and is wrapped in one of Apple’s longest-lasting designs of a laptop. You’ll get rounded corners on the aluminum case with a thin and light build. Given how long it was on the market, you’ll find plenty of cases available for the 13-inch Macbook Pro as well.

You do get a 720p FaceTime HD camera built into the top that supports the new live reactions that macOS Sonoma introduced. The 13-inch MacBook Pro features three microphones for clear voice pickup as well.

Above the keyboard, which is solid for typing, you do get the Touch Bar. Love it or hate it, it was a part of the Mac ecosystem for a while and essentially transforms your row of function keys based on certain applications. This was the last Mac to feature it, so if you’re a fan, this is the model to get. For instance, when in photos, you can swipe along to quickly search through a library, and with video editing like Final Cut Pro, you can scrub the timeline.

In terms of ports, this machine does lack MagSafe but features two USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 ports on the left-hand side, while a lone audio jack is on the right. In our testing, we got a full day of work easily with the 13-inch Macbook Pro, and Apple rates it up for up to 20 hours for video playback.

So, while it doesn’t boast the modern look or some of the more advanced features of the newer MacBook Pros or Airs, the 13-inch Macbook Pro with M2 does strike a chord with value, especially at $250 off. If you’re sold, you’ll want to add it to your cart before it sells out on Amazon.
