Like the sea, the Carnival Cruise Line rumor mill is always in motion.

Luckily, the cruise line’s passengers can always count on its trusty brand ambassador, John Heald, to do what he can to stop false information from spreading through the waves of social media.

On his popular Facebook page, Heald answers hundreds of questions from passengers every day and often notices trends in his messages when a new rumor is swirling.

Although the brand ambassador is often dispelling rumors spilled about the cruise line’s alcoholic drink package, this time he’s working to wipe out false claims involving a popular type of non-alcoholic beverage instead.

Carnival brand ambassador takes on hot coffee rumor

Apparently, a brewing social media rumor suggested that Carnival Cruise Line was dropping an essential offering from its JavaBlue Café.

“John, a regular diamond cruiser on Facebook has said that baristas will no longer have to-go cups,” a passenger identified as “D” wrote to the brand ambassador. “Coffee is expected to be consumed at the tables around the JavaBlue Café in cups.”

According to the passenger, the rumor implied that Carnival is getting rid of to-go coffee cups for two reasons.

“The Carnival story/rationale — sustainability and to save ship’s water? The last part pretty odd. Well it is pretty odd all the way around,” the passenger said.

“Imagine if the big S said no more coffee to go,” the passenger continued. “Who decides this crazy stuff? Does anyone even think it through? I will miss the cozy welcoming atmosphere of Starbucks when I am on the Vista. Totally disgusted.”

As Carnival’s brand ambassador shared the concerned coffee drinker’s message in a post on his Facebook page, he noted that after “D” posted this on his page, he received many comments asking if it was true.

“The answer is no, of course it isn’t,” Heald explained.

Although the brand ambassador is always happy to help passengers and clear up confusion around the cruise line’s policies, he’s quick to stick up for Carnival’s hardworking crew members too.

“As for the ‘I miss Starbucks and their staff’ quote, well honestly I think our Baristas are brilliant,” Heald defended. “How they smile, how they remember your coffee order after only a few days and how they put up with Mr. and Mrs. Glitterknickers and their morning grumpy moods is quite amazing to me and perhaps to you too.”

Carnival passengers love JavaBlue Café

In the comments on the post, a number of passengers confirmed their agreement with the brand ambassador that Carnival’s baristas provide exceptional service.

“I agree that Carnival baristas are amazing,” Shawn Caccia wrote. “I even gave kudos to Laura and Pia on my last trip on the Legend because they not only remembered my drink on day 2, but made it with a smile every time I came by to get one! They were both awesome!”

Carnival’s onboard coffee shop, JavaBlue Café, offers hot and cold specialty coffee drinks available for an additional charge. Although many passengers are very happy with the coffee and service provided at the café, some would like to see the cruise line offer a dedicated coffee beverage package so they can enjoy it even more during their cruise vacations.

Currently, specialty coffee is only included with the cruise line’s Cheers beverage package, a pricey add-on that also includes alcoholic drinks.

“I love Java Blue. I am a coffee drinker but not a cocktail drinker, maybe 1 or 2 here and there. I wish Carnival offered a separate coffee card program for purchase instead of it being part of the Cheers package,” Lisa Hairston Williamson explained.
