Carnival Cruise Line crew member Cassandra Stefanie Hawrylkiewicz uses her Facebook page to show what her life is like on cruise ships.

Hawrylkiewicz does not actually work for Carnival Cruise Line. She’s an employee of Park West, the company that runs the art galleries and auctions on ships from Carnival and nearly every other major cruise line.

Working as a gallery director, Cass Stefanie, as she abbreviates her name on social media, has done multiple contracts on both Carnival and Princess. She’s part of the team conducting on-board art auctions, but even though she’s not employed by Carnival, she’s considered a member of the crew.

As an art gallery worker, she gets time off during the day on port days. Along with her Park West team, Cass Stefanie is able to get off the ship more often than most crew members do. But as a crew member, she lives in a crew cabin.

That means she can eat in the crew cafeteria/mess. That’s essentially a buffet that’s part of the crew-only area, where three meals — as well as some late-night options for workers who work through dinner — are served to the crew.

She showed off the crew mess in a recent video along with some of her favorite choices to eat there.

What Carnival Cruise Line crew members eat

Transcript:

Ever wondered where and what crew eats on cruise ships? Come to breakfast with me. Always a designated area for culinary and a station for hygiene. I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the choices.

There’s always fruits, some delicious pastries, sorts of protein, carbs, cheeses, and cold meats to keep you going until lunch. They have the most banging choices of cereals as well. I love Froot Loops. But my go-to in the mornings is oatmeal.

The staff mess is spacious. You can even watch sports if that’s your thing. Lots of comfy couches and many tables.

The ultimate is the coffee machine. I find the cappuccinos to be quite weak, so I always double up on the espresso after. Wouldn’t cope six months without this bad boy.

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, so even on port days, I’m up early not to miss out. My last ship didn’t have grapefruit. It’s pretty much what I start my morning with every day. So juicy, so healthy and so fresh.

For every meal, we have designated areas to put dirty dishes away to make it easier for our cleaning crew.
