A Coach Outlet favorite gets an upgrade
When I was shopping for a new go-to bag years ago, I wanted something stylish and spacious without being too big. Naturally, I went to Coach Outlet. I was torn between the Laurel Shoulder Bag and the Teri Shoulder Bag, both of which checked off all the boxes and felt comfortable to wear. Ultimately, I went with the Teri since it’s more compact, but I’ve thought about the Laurel bag ever since. Now, I just might have to make it official, as Coach Outlet just released a new version of the Lauren with pockets.
Coach Outlet’s Laurel Shoulder Bag with Pockets debuted during its early August drop, and it’s easily one of my favorite new arrivals.
Laurel Shoulder Bag with Pockets, $289 (was $375) at Coach Outlet
The new Laurel bag shares the same silhouette as the original, but with pockets. (And as a firm believer that pockets make most accessories and pieces of clothing better, I consider it a massive upgrade.) It measures 12.25 inches long by 4.25 inches wide by 9.25 inches high, which is more than enough space to hold the essentials. The bag can even fit a 13-inch tablet. With three outside zip pockets — one on the front and a smaller pocket on each side — you get even more storage space. The extra pockets are perfect for storing small items, like earbuds, hand sanitizer, lip balm, and more.
This bag can be worn multiple ways, thanks to the two detachable straps it comes with. With a 10.75-inch handle, you can wear it on your shoulder or at the crook of your elbow. The adjustable 22-inch strap allows you to wear it as a longer shoulder bag or as a crossbody bag.
The Laurel with pockets comes in three colors, including black, Cinnamon, and Loved Leather, Coach Outlet’s weathered black and brown colorway that looks like it could be vintage. The bag comes in smooth leather, two of which have a shiny appearance.

But that’s not all — the new Laurel with pockets comes in a smaller size, too. Measuring 7.25 inches long by 3.25 inches wide by 6 inches high, the Laurel Shoulder Bag 22 with Pockets is perfect for lighter loads and for anyone who prefers a smaller silhouette. The best part? Despite its smaller size, it still features three outside zip pockets. Aside from the size difference, this bag comes with a 9-inch shoulder strap, along with a 22-inch shoulder/crossbody strap.
Whether you opt for the Laurel or Laurel 22, you can’t go wrong. With pockets, the new bags have extra organization and are great for everyday wear.
