Walt Disney Imagineers are the creative minds behind the magic of Disney cruise ships. With Disney stories as their inspiration, Imagineers dream up, design, build, and create all the magical spaces and experiences that delight families aboard Disney cruise ships.
On some ships, the Disney cruise kids’ clubs even feature a Walt Disney Imagineering Lab that lets kids take on an Imagineer’s role to design their own roller coaster. Through hands-on activities, kids can learn about a Disney Imagineer’s creative process and take the lead on their own imaginative project.

As kids on Disney cruise ships across the sea find out what it’s like to create their own Disney attractions, some adult passengers are tapping into their imaginations too.
In a popular Reddit thread, Disney Cruise Line passengers recently shared ideas for Disney cruise ship spaces they’d create if they were Imagineers.

A traditional idea received the highest passenger approval
Surprisingly, some of the most popular ideas discussed in the thread were practical ones.
User Imaginary_Roof_5286’s idea received the most Reddit upvotes in the thread: “I’d wave my magic wand and give the Wish class of ships a complete circuit Promenade deck.”
Traditionally, a cruise ship promenade deck is a covered outdoor walkway that wraps around the entire ship. Older Disney cruise ships include this traditional style of promenade, but the cruise line’s newest Wish class of ships feature a redesigned walking path. The Wish-class promenade spans multiple decks instead of circling the ship entirely on one deck.

“I had a mild foot injury when I went on Wish, but I could walk and was looking forward to my usual walking around and around to walk off the good meals,” Imaginary_Roof_5286’s added. “It’s not even close to a circuit: completely closed off at one end, and requiring navigating a steep stairs a couple decks on the other end, something I just couldn’t do. Very disappointing to discover.”
Reddit user phinz had the same idea and shared how the traditional promenade is a valued cruise ship feature. “The Promenade is a major part of the cruising experience for us. We spend a good deal of time walking laps, enjoying the sea air and wind, close to the water, without the sun beating down on us.”
Disney cruise passengers have suggestions for themed bars too
Another top post in the Reddit thread proved that fans of Disney’s sci-fi franchise TRON would go wild for a Disney cruise ship bar inspired by the End of the Line Club in Tron City.
“I want the “End of Line” bar from TRON Legacy,” posted Reddit user iceknygt. User Rdubya44 chimed in with a nod to the film’s popular soundtrack, “With Daft Punk playing at all times.”
Other ideas for themed adult spaces were shared in the thread including popular Disney Parks-inspired suggestions. Disney cruise ship passengers want to see a Trader Sam’s-style tiki bar like the Disneyland Hotel tiki bar that’s inspired by the Jungle Cruise attraction.

They also want to see a venue modeled after the iconic Adventurer’s Club, a nightclub at Walt Disney World’s Pleasure Island, which closed in 2008 to make way for new shopping and dining in what’s now Disney Springs.
Passengers also got excited about an idea to drift around a Disney cruise ship with a relaxing water park feature. “All I need is a lazy river going around the entire ship. Use any theme you want,” user Fozfan33 posted.

User zzyul’s suggestions for improving the Disney cruise ship movie theater experience were ideas that multiple passengers hoped could become a reality:
“Put in reclining seats in the small movie theaters. Let guests vote on which movies from the Disney catalog they want to watch in these theaters at select times. Maybe do it through the app so only people physically at the theater can vote. Would be awesome to see something like The Empire Strikes Back or The Little Mermaid on a big screen with a good sound system.”
