Holland America Line recently celebrated its 150th birthday. The venerable company started out as a cargo and passenger line based in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and over the years, it has welcomed more than 12 million passengers on board.
Now, one of the world’s oldest cruise lines is rolling out a new campaign that underscores the Carnival-owned line’s differentiation in the market and commitment to service.
The introduction of “Savour the Journey: Experiences with us are too good to hurry through” reinforces the brand’s dedication to the art of leisurely travel with voyages designed to connect travelers to the world and each other.
“When guests decide to sail with Holland America Line, they can choose from hundreds of itineraries designed to help them connect authentically with the destination—both onboard and ashore,” said VP of Deployment and Revenue Planning, Paul Grigsby, exclusively to TheStreet.
“Many of our itineraries feature extended late night, overnight, or even multiple night calls in port, allowing guests more time to discover the destination at the pace they prefer,” added Grigsby. “And we’ve listened to guest feedback to optimize the number of days at sea—as well as scenic cruising—allowing guests to fully soak in all the ship has to offer to ensure they’re able to ‘savour their journey’ every step of the way rather than feeling rushed or overwhelmed.”

The journey is as important as the destination
The company worked to collect consumer feedback, focusing on their interests, and the result is the new program, designed for travelers who want to savor every moment of their journey.
With a fleet of mid-size ships that can access destinations that larger vessels cannot, Holland America Line provides a variety of experiences that make each voyage special.
“We have always believed that the journey is just as important as the destination, and that is what Savour the Journey embodies,” said Holland America Line’s Chief Marketing Officer Kacy Cole. “‘Experiences with us are too good to hurry through’ encapsulates our genuine hospitality, world-class on-board product, cuisine that goes beyond the plate, and leadership in the art of leisurely travel.”
Authentic experiences don’t just stop with Holland America Line’s on-board programming. With its carefully crafted itineraries, more time in port and select overnight stays, coupled with exclusive The History Channel itineraries and shore excursions, Holland America Line transforms guests into story collectors with new global perspectives and the opportunity to check off bucket-list opportunities.
