Everyone has a preferred fast-food burger chain order, but for many on the West Coast, it consists of a double-stacked cheeseburger and fries drenched in a secret sauce and topped with grilled, finely chopped onions.

Founded in 1948 in Baldwin Park, California, this 100-square-foot burger shop became the state’s first-ever drive-thru restaurant, which quickly won over the community and earned it national recognition.

What once began as a single small drive-thru has grown to over 400 locations across eight states, including Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Colorado, and Idaho, as well as its home state of California, where around 280 of its restaurants are located.

These latest additions to In-N-Out’s portfolio come not long after the chain unveiled plans to close its headquarters in Irvine, California, in February of this year to relocate to its hometown of Baldwin Park after 30 years.

However, this West Coast fast-food chain has pressed the expansion pedal with no plans to hit the brakes anytime soon.

That same month, it was also revealed that In-N-Out was building an office in Franklin, Tennessee, and about six restaurants in Middle Tennessee that are expected to open in 2026. These locations include Murfreesboro, Hendersonville, Lebanon, Mt. Juliet, Madison, and Antioch, as reported by The Tennesseean.

In-N-Out teases a surprising international launch

But that’s not all. Although In-N-Out has yet to confirm any plans to expand internationally, it made a mysterious business move that has kept fans from abroad on their toes.

In April, In-N-Out surprised its Middle East fans by opening a single-day pop-up in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., customers indulged in the fast-food chain’s signature Double-Double burgers and Animal-Style fries.

The last time In-N-Out made a surprise appearance in Dubai was in 2021 with a similar concept, making its latest pop-up the first return in four years.

This sudden appearance abroad may only be a fun project for the burger chain. However, an investment this big could be a strategy for In-N-Out to create brand awareness and test its products in the region for a potential permanent launch.
