
Japan’s August activity data weakened across both production and consumption. Industrial production fell 0.2% → 1.7% m/m, marking a second consecutive monthly contraction and missing expectations for a rebound. The seasonally adjusted production index fell to 102.6, while shipments dropped 2.5% and inventories declined 0.5%. METI nevertheless maintained its assessment that production is “fluctuating indecisively.” […]
