Too bad the votes for the NFL’s MVP Award get tallied before the postseason.
The annual award for the league’s most valuable player is decided by a 50-person panel of Associated Press sportswriters who vote on which player demonstrated the best performance during the NFL’s regular season. Started in 1954, the MVP is considered the most prestigious award in the NFL; some contracts even give cash bonuses to those who win.
According to Forbes, Buffalo Bills’ star quarterback Josh Allen will pocket $1.5 million if he’s named MVP when the award is announced in early February. This would add even more heft to the already impressive, eight-figure net wealth he’s amassed in just seven seasons in the NFL.

Josh Allen vs. Lamar Jackson
However, Baltimore Ravens’ star quarterback Lamar Jackson is considered to be the favorite for this year’s MVP, having broken the NFL record for career rushing yards by a quarterback, along with racking up 41 touchdowns and just 4 interceptions.
Here’s how the two QBs stack up:

Yet Jackson, a previous two-time MVP winner, made crucial missteps — including two turnovers — in the AFC Divisional game against the Bills on January 19, which caused the Ravens to lose 27–25, eliminating them from playoff contention.
Regardless of whether Allen receives the Pete Rozelle Trophy, the Bills’ star might already have his sights set on something bigger: A Super Bowl ring. Allen’s contract also rewards him with $1 million if the Bills win the AFC title and another $2.5 million if they bring home the Vince Lombardi trophy.

In addition, his 2025 salary would go up by $2.5 million with an AFC title and by another $5 million if the Bills win Super Bowl LIX.

What is Josh Allen’s net worth in 2025?
According to Forbes, Allen’s net worth stands at $67 million as of early 2025. Other online sources, like Celebrity Net Worth, peg his wealth slightly higher, at $70 million.
In either case, the celebrated QB’s wealth stands to grow significantly in the years to come due to his highly lucrative contract with the Bills.
Josh Allen’s contract and salary
In August 2021, Allen signed a six-year, $258 million contract extension with the Bills that came with $150 million in guaranteed funds.
However, Allen’s ballooning salary affected the Bills’ salary cap, so in March 2024, the team moved $30 million from his future salary into the 2024 year and converted $16.5 million into a “signing bonus.” This freed up cap space so the team could add more talent to their roster.
According to Sports Illustrated, Allen will be taking home a whopping $43 million in the 2024–2025 season — and while it’s hard for most people to digest a sum that large, some feel that Allen is actually underpaid.

However, Allen’s legions of fans think this figure will be revised much higher after his contract expires at the end of the 2028 season — some think he could mint as much as $60 million a year, which would set a record for the NFL.

Josh Allen’s early life & football career
Known for his ability to both run and throw the football, which places him in the rarefied air of “dual-threat” quarterbacks, the 6’5” athlete never dreamed he’d get a college scholarship, let alone a shot in the NFL.
Born on May 21, 1996 in Firebaugh, Fresno County, California, Joshua Patrick Allen grew up on his family’s 3,000-acre farm. The oldest of four children, Allen has two sisters, Nicala and Makenna, and a brother, Jason.
His father, Joel, was a third-generation farmer while his mother, LaVonne, ran The Farmer’s Daughter, a restaurant that catered to early morning field hands. Allen often helped out there and on the farm by clearing weeds, driving the tractor, and harvesting crops like cotton, pistachios, and cantaloupes.
The Allen family was always active in sports. Young Josh was also a top scorer on his high school basketball team and excelled in baseball — he could even throw a 90 mph fastball.

Allen’s dream was to play college football for Fresno State, but at the time, the 6’3” 180-lb quarterback did not receive any scholarship offers from NCAA schools, even after he emailed their head coaches directly. (If only they had clicked on Allen’s highlight reel; they would have seen what he was capable of.)
So, Allen played for a season at Reedley Junior College, and with his arm strength and mobility, he turned his school into one of the top teams in the state of California. He also grew two inches and packed on nearly 30 lbs. of muscle.
Even still, the only Division I interest Allen received came from Eastern Michigan University and the University of Wyoming.
Allen chose Wyoming, although in his first game of the 2015 season, he suffered a broken collarbone that would leave him out for the rest of the year (he would be classified as a redshirt freshman).
Allen left the bench and started as quarterback in the 2016 season, throwing an incredible 3,200 yards and 28 touchdowns. NFL scouts began to notice.
After his winning role in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in December 2017, where Allen threw 3 touchdowns, passed for 154 yards, and led the Wyoming Cowboys to a 37–14 victory over the Central Michigan Chippewas, Allen had gained the NFL’s attention.
In 2020, Allen led Buffalo to their first division title since 1995.

Josh Allen’s NFL career
The Buffalo Bills drafted Allen in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft, as the 7th overall pick. He signed a four-year guaranteed contract worth $21 million.
Allen initially served as the backup quarterback to Nathan Peterman, but when Peterman was benched during the September 2018 game against the Baltimore Ravens, Allen took the field. The Bills were walloped by the Ravens 47–3, but Allen finished with 74 passing yards and 26 rushing yards. The following week, Allen was named starter, and he completed a 57-yard pass to Zay Jones, the second-longest in NFL history.
An elbow injury kept Allen sidelined for four games, but he came back strong, leading the team’s quarterbacks with eight rushing touchdowns. However, he also sported its lowest completion percentage, at just 52.8%. The Bills finished a miserable season 6–10, although its record improved to 5–6 with Allen as its starter.

During the offseason, Allen focused on improving his accuracy, utilizing the help of passing coaches like Jordan Palmer and an advanced technology system known as Biometrik. This system uses a microchip implanted inside the football to measure the velocity and spin rate of its spiral, which helped the young quarterback better align his body for maximum effect.
By effectively gaining a more solid footing when throwing the ball, Allen was able to increase his passing percentage by 10 points in just a year. By 2021, he connected on 69.2% of his passes.
Allen led the Bills to five consecutive division titles from 2020 to 2024, setting franchise records for single-season passing yards and touchdowns along the way. He also set an NFL record for highest passer rating in a single postseason in the 2021–22 season, achieving a score of 149.0.
While the Bills made it to the AFC Championship game in 2021, they were defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs, 38-24. They have one more shot at the Super Bowl in 2025, again facing the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game on January 26, 2025.
Josh Allen’s endorsement deals
With his underdog story and eminently marketable face, Allen has inked endorsements with brands like Nike, PepsiCo, Microsoft, Hyundai, and Paramount. He also gained sponsorships from Gillette, Cash App, Verizon, New Era, Beats by Dre, and Frito-Lay.
According to Forbes, these deals generate about $4 million a year for the star quarterback.
This year, he was featured as the face of the video game Madden NFL 2024, and his deal with Pepsi even featured a commercial for Gatorade, entitled “Hello Coach,” that echoed his real-life quest for recognition.

Josh Allen’s personal life
Allen dated his high school sweetheart, Fresno State cheerleader Brittany Williams, from 2015 to 2023. In 2023, Allen began dating actress Hailee Steinfeld. The notoriously private couple became engaged on November 22, 2024 and went “Instagram official” one week later.
Josh Allen’s real estate portfolio
Allen owns a handful of properties on the East and West coasts that The New York Post values at $12 million.
He purchased a 3,600-square-foot estate in Orchard Park, New York for $659,900. It has a spacious kitchen and pool and is conveniently located near Highmark Stadium.
In 2021, he bought an additional 31-acre parcel adjacent to the property for $500,000.
He also owns two properties in his home state of California: A $7.2 million beach house in Dana Point (just south of Los Angeles) that offers more than 2,800 square feet of living space including four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a hot tub, and a private terrace.
He also owns a $2.3 million estate in Ranch Mission Viejo that has four bedrooms, five bedrooms, and a luxury kitchen.
