Hotels and casino operators on the Strip have closed several longtime restaurants over the last year seeking to modernize and upgrade their culinary offerings.

MGM Resorts International  (MGM)  on Oct. 30, 2024, closed its limited-hours restaurant Della’s Kitchen at Delano Las Vegas, which originally opened in September 2014.

Della’s closing coincided with MGM’s closing and rebranding of Delano Las Vegas in October for renovations and reflagging to a W Hotel, which opened on the property in December.

MGM closed another restaurant that had operated since June 2013 when it shuttered Avenue Café at the MGM Grand on Nov. 17, 2024, and replaced it with streaming service-themed Netflix Bites on Feb. 11.

Popular affordable restaurant Ocean One Bar and Grille at Caesars Entertainment’s  (CZR)  Planet Hollywood Las Vegas Hotel and Casino’s Miracle Mile Shops posted a message to its customers in November 2024 announcing its closing.

“Thank you for allowing us to serve you for the last twenty years. With your support, we will continue serving the Las Vegas community as we search for a new location. Lease has expired,” the message read.

International Smoke, a barbecue restaurant at the MGM Grand Las Vegas that was operated by celebrity chef Michael Mina and Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry’s wife Ayesha Curry, permanently closed on Jan. 19, MGM Resorts International revealed.

The restaurant, which opened in 2019 after the success of the chefs’ San Francisco location, featured wood-fired steaks, seafood, ribs, and vegetarian entrees.

The Las Vegas Strip casino operator also closed celebrity chef restaurant Julian Serrano Tapas at Aria Las Vegas on Feb. 1 after over 15 years in business.

The award-winning restaurant, which opened in 2009, had won several awards, including Best of Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator Magazine in 2011, and Esquire magazine named the restaurant one of its Best New Restaurants of the Year in 2010, according to Serrano’s website.

High-end Las Vegas Strip steakhouse Nusr-Et shut down its operations on the Park promenade between the Park MGM and New York New York on Jan. 28, 2025, after a three-year run, Casino.org reported.

The restaurant’s founding chef Nusret Gokce, who is known as Salt Bae, said he is temporarily pausing operations with plans to reopen the restaurant at a new location. The company closed locations in New York in May 2024 and Dallas in January 2025.

Gokce’s restaurant opened in February 2022 and featured the chef’s style of seasoning his steaks by sprinkling salt off his forearm and onto the meat, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

The restaurant opened with some unusually high-priced menu items, including a 32-ounce tomahawk steak for $1,100; a 32-ounce rack of lamb for $1,250; and a 70-ounce wagyu striploin for $2,400; with each dish reportedly wrapped in 24-carat gold foil.

And now Bazaar Meat by José Andrés, located at Sahara Las Vegas, will close its operations on June 30, 2025, when its lease expires, according to the Review-Journal. The casino said that it is possible that the lease could be extended after that date, but that is uncertain.

Sahara Las Vegas has not said what new restaurant concept would replace Bazaar Meat.

The chef also operates Jaleo by José Andrés, é by José Andrés, and China Poblano at The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, as well as Bazaar Mar in the Shops at Crystals on the Strip.
