If a company needs name recognition, a Super Bowl ad might be the best way possible to get massive attention. The challenge, of course, is delivering an ad that not only gets people to remember your name but actually understand what you do.

During the height of the internet boom, countless companies made splashy ads that left everyone knowing their name but having no idea what the product is.

MSC Cruise, however, does not have that problem. The cruise line’s 2025 Super Bowl ad shows two well-known actors, Orlando Bloom and Drew Barrymore interacting on a cruise ship.

Barrymore is loudly and badly singing Madonna’s “Holiday,” with its signature “holiday/celebrate” refrain being a major part of the ad.

This is the first time MSC has advertised during the Super Bowl and part of the ad was released before the big game.

MSC leans on well-known stars

While neither Bloom not Barrymore counts as an A-list movie star anymore, both have massive name recognition. They’re widely recognizable which should help the cruise line get Super Bowl viewers to watch its message.

“The 60-second ad will highlight MSC Cruises’ signature blend of European style and American comfort while showcasing its upcoming flagship, MSC World America,” the cruise line shared in a press release. “Barrymore and Bloom are joining forces with MSC Cruises to launch the family-owned company’s first national advertising campaign as part of its ongoing North American expansion. Viewers will see the two acclaimed actors taking a vacation aboard MSC World America.”

MSC World America will be the cruise line’s largest ship to serve the North American market, sailing from PortMiami on April 9, 2025. The ship will offer 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises, all of which will call at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve — MSC’s private island destination in The Bahamas with several miles of white sand beaches, turquoise waters, and a range of activity and amenity enhancements debuting this year.

MSC World America will launch from the line’s new MSC Miami Cruise Terminal on April 9.. Later in the year, the line will begin offering cruises from Galveston, Texas for the first time, followed by the addition of cruises to Alaska in the summer of 2026.

“I am so proud to work with MSC Cruises, which is a company that makes it possible for people and families to get to see the world,” said Barrymore. “They take care of all the planning and make it beautiful and joyful!”

Bloom, who is appearing in his first Super Bowl ad, shared his thoughts as well.

“MSC World America is full of European style and is perfectly designed for immersive and enriching experiences at sea. I’m excited to share this elegant new ship on America’s biggest stage, and I’m sure MSC World America will wow holidaymakers of all types — Americans and Europeans alike,” he said.
