TL;DR
  • Smart ring maker Oura is suing Ultrahuman again, seeking to have the Ring Pro removed from US shelves over alleged patent infringement.
  • Ultrahuman’s co-founder says the company will respond to the claims and that the Ring Pro remains available in the US.
  • Oura has previously sued Ultrahuman over the Ring Air, which led to its removal from US shelves last year.

Oura won a key patent dispute against rival smart ring maker Ultrahuman last year, forcing it to remove the Ring Air from US shelves. Ultrahuman has since released the Ring Pro in the US, featuring a redesigned heart-rate sensor and a two-week battery life. Now, in what can only be described as déjà vu, Oura is suing to pull the Ultrahuman Ring Pro from the US.

In a lawsuit filed in a Texas federal court, reports TechCrunch, Oura alleges that the Ring Pro infringes on two of its patents, specifically related to design and internal hardware,  The company claims Ultrahuman’s smart ring violates patents D804,471 and 12,769,363, and seeks to ban its sale and recover damages.
