The Wendy’s Frosty debuted in 1969, the same year as the fast food chain, making it one of five original menu items. Since then, the Frosty has become a staple and one of Wendy’s most popular menu items.
This one-of-a-kind frozen dessert is a mix between soft-serve ice cream and a milkshake, which allows customers to eat it however they desire. It is the perfect consistency to scoop with a spoon, thick enough to dip fries in, and smooth enough to sip with a straw.
The first Frosty flavor was chocolate, and in 2006, the vanilla flavor was added to the permanent menu due to its high demand. The addition of another flavor sparked Wendy’s’ creativity, which led to the release of multiple limited-time flavors throughout the years.

From then on, with every change of season, Wendy’s fans count the days until the unveiling of a new seasonal Frosty and excitedly head to their nearest location to try it, hoping some of the limited-time flavors will become permanent menu items.

Wendy’s announces new additions to its Frosty menu
During its Investor Day, Wendy’s (WEN) revealed that new Frosty flavors were in the making, with innovative additions such as mix-ins and swirls. These new Frosty additions are very similar to those of the McDonald’s (MCD) McFlurry, one of Wendy’s strongest rivals.
For decades, Wendy’s has been trying to outdo McDonald’s since both have the same market share. Hence, the fast food chain has launched similar menu items and formed limited-time partnerships with other brands to remain relevant and stay ahead of the game.

Wendy’s introduces its new Frosty Swirls and Frosty Fusions
Wendy’s announced it will add two new Frosty lines to its permanent menu this Spring: Frosty Swirls and Frosty Fusions.
The Frosty Swirls is a lineup of various sauces, and the Frosty Fusions is a selection of multiple mix-ins. This addition will offer customers more ways to customize their Chocolate or Vanilla Frosty to their liking.
Although Wendy’s confirmed the new additions, it provided no further details on the specific sauces or mix-ins. However, the fast food chain did reveal a promotional teaser image featuring some of the soon-to-be-revealed options.
For the sauce options, chocolate, caramel, and strawberry seem to be part of the new lineup, and for the mix-in options, cookies and cream pieces, graham cookie crumbles, and strawberry cookies seem to form part of the list as well.

To make the new Frosty additions more enjoyable and efficient to eat while on the go, new Frosty cups, lids, and spoons have been designed and will be provided at all locations nationwide.
