Royal Caribbean is ready to level up cruise ship entertainment with the launch of its next Icon Class ship, Star of the Seas, which sets sail from Port Canaveral, Florida beginning in August.

The next Icon is being called a “super sequel” to Icon of the Seas, the largest cruise ship in the world, which debuted in early 2024. Icon of the Seas sails seven-night Caribbean cruises from Miami offering a super-sized experience that promises the best of beach getaways, resort stays, and theme park thrills all in one cruise vacation.

With its super sequel, Royal Caribbean has set out to take on Orlando theme park vacations with its next bold combination of every vacation. Star of the Seas is designed to appeal to multigenerational family travelers through eight neighborhoods that are destinations in themselves, including Thrill Island, Chill Island, Central Park, and AquaDome, a relaxing hang-out space by day and energetic entertainment area at night.

AquaDome is home to the innovative AquaTheater, a fan-favorite entertainment venue on Royal Caribbean’s newest ships that features a deep pool flanked by high-diving platforms designed for daring stunts and aerial acrobatics.

As the cruise line counts down to the highly anticipated launch of Star of the Seas, it just revealed new details on the supercharged stage shows planned for the AquaTheater and other venues on board the ship.

Star of the Seas to debut bold new aquatic stunt show, hit Broadway musical

Headlining the AquaTheater entertainment on Star of the Seas is Torque, an adrenaline-charged aquatic show fueled by intense stunts, cutting-edge technology, and immersive visuals. Torque will push the limits of performance with athletic artists, dancers, and slackliners, as well as the most synchronized swimmers of any AquaTheater show to date.

Beginning in the fall, Star of the Seas’ AquaTheater entertainment will also include a Pirates & Mermaids show designed for families. The aqua adventure show will captivate audiences with high dives, choreography, and acrobatics, and offer a heartwarming lesson about the true treasure of life.

In Star of the Seas’ Royal Theater, passengers will buckle up for an electrifying time-traveling adventure as “Back to the Future: The Musical” hits the seas for the first time. A Broadway musical adaptation of an iconic film fit for an iconic family vacation, the show will include surprise Royal Caribbean twists to the musical take on the cult-classic movie. It will even be accompanied by the biggest orchestra at sea.

In the fall, Star of the Seas will also debut a new family show accompanied by the orchestra in the Royal Theater called Create. The show will follow curious robot KRĒ-8 on a journey to explore the soul of song, dance, visual arts, and all forms of expression.

Star of the Seas will also feature new ice show, ocean-themed parade

In the ship’s Absolute Zero ice skating arena, passengers can watch the largest ice skating cast in the fleet perform SOL, a new ice show that follows one day of the sun’s path from coast to coast and features thrilling stunts and “out-of-this-world” projections.

Star of the Seas will also debut a new Ocean Odyssey parade in the ship’s Royal Promenade. Passengers can join in a quest to find the lost Royal Scroll with King Atlantis and his deep-sea crew, complete with dancing, music, and deck-out floats.

Cruisers will also enjoy comedy shows in The Attic venue and plenty of live music from dueling pianos, salsa, jazz, and blues to rock and roll tributes and lively sing-alongs.

Beginning in late August, Star of the Seas will sail seven-night cruises from Port Canaveral to the eastern and western Caribbean featuring visits to Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s private island in The Bahamas.
