Why we love this deal

The upside to a harsh winter is that you appreciate a hot, warm summer so much more. Spending time outdoors come June is one of our favorite activities, and nothing helps you get as much time outside as possible than a great outdoor setup. You don’t need to have a backyard or patio area decked out with lamps, lights, chairs, tables, and more, but a decent patio set, like the Sophia & William Patio Set, makes all the difference in creating a cozy space to enjoy the sun and the warm ambiance of the night even after it has set. And when you play host to family and friends all through the summer months, it gives them the perfect space to kick off their shoes and relax with you.

The only downside? They can be pretty expensive, and while we totally understand why — they’re built to conquer the outdoor elements — it doesn’t make it any easier spending money on one when it comes time to actually use one. Thankfully, thanks to Walmart’s Summer Deals event, you can take advantage of sale prices to save you some money and still score you a great summer set to enjoy over the course of the next couple of months. The Sophia & Williams 7-piece ensemble typically goes for $1,447, but you can save over $456 right now as part of a Walmart deal and get it for just $991 if you act fast.

Why do shoppers love it?

Sturdy, stylish, and comfortable — all words we’d use to describe this patio set. Constructed from heavy-duty steel with a powder-coating, it’s built to last but also looks great in your backyard. Steel offers exceptional durability, and its weight keeps it in place and resistant to heavy winds during the occasional summer storm. With the powder-coating, it’s resistant to rust and damage from water exposure, as well as chipping or fading from sun exposure.

Included in this 7-piece set is a dining table, which measures 60 inches long, 38 inches wide, and 28 inches high, along with six chairs that measure 27.3 inches long, 23.3 inches wide, and 37.5 inches high with the seat itself sitting about 14.6 inches off the ground. What’s unique about this set is that you can choose what kind of chairs you want in your dining set. This version includes fixed chairs but you can opt for swivel chairs, which offer 360-degree turn capabilities, or a mix match of both fixed and swivel chairs for versatility. In the end, the chairs however do measure similarly in length, width, and height. There are a few different tables to choose from, both in shape and height, so it’s really up to you which one you like the best. The great thing is that each one all has a hole in the middle to place an umbrella and secure some shade.

Each chair comes with comfortable sponge cushions that are water-repellent, stain-resistant, and soil-release treated, which means everyday dirt, oils, and spills lift out easily when it comes time to wash them. They have velcro straps which keep them securely attached to the chair at all times.

What to expect from a $790 patio set: Pros and cons

Pros

  • Heavy-duty and durable: This dining set is made with powder-coated steel that is wind, water, and weather-resistant. It’s also rust-resistant, super sturdy, and won’t bend or falter under extreme conditions.
  • Versatile and customizable: You can choose between a variety of chair options and table setups to create a set that’s exactly what you want.
  • Easy-to-clean: The steel is easy to clean with a quick wipe down, and the sponge cushion have soil-release properties that make dirt, oils, and spills easily to lift out with a quick wash in the machine

Cons

  • Expensive: Even with the sale price, it still is an expensive patio set — although many consider it a worthwhile long-term investment.
  • Assembly required: Some assembly is required.

Although assembly took a bit of time and grit, the finished product is well liked by shoppers. The quality is impressive and it’s a stylish addition to a backyard area, patio, deck, or pool area. “The dining table and chairs are a perfect addition to our newly screened-in porch,” one shopper said. It’s nice and pretty to look at.
