I can’t quite place it, I know C# is fast and I enjoy the language, but I just feel like a Boomer-Toolbag, where everyone else is a millenial golanger python javascript free-spirit.
I dunno, I just really don’t want to be a cubicle drone at some company writing .bat scripts for a shitty DOS shell while windows 10 nags me every 5 seconds that I have another LinkedIn update.
I have no idea where people get the idea that JavaScript is modern. The core is even older than C#.
Probably just saying that tongue-in-cheek because Python and JS are both interpreted
IMO “Boomer-Toolbag’s” are the people who get the things that actually matter done.
“millenial golanger python javascript free-spirit’s.” think programming is a video game and they need to get a high score. They write stuff, then forget about it and won’t touch it again because it’s “legacy”, which is where the “boomer toolbags” have to step in to get that shit working for the customer because the ‘millenial golanger python javascript free-spirit’s” have found their new drug and insist on getting a quote for a brand new system.
Well .bat files aren’t c# for starters. You’ll may use them everywhere you’re using windows. Although most people use powershell now. .Net core is a major advancement of the framework making it fully cross platform and providing loads of cool new features. That said you should use either what’s the most fun or practical for the task at hand. Don’t worry about the tech, you can just learn another language later. Early language choices don’t decide your future.
