While some routes remain popular throughout the year, seasonal flights to vacation destinations are an important part of every airline’s business and network planning.

This year, Delta Air Lines  (DAL)  launched a spate of new flights to Caribbean destinations such as St. Maarten, Aruba, and Puerto Rico. At the same time, JetBlue JBLU and American Airlines AAL both expanded the number of flights to Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and the Bahamas.

Frontier’s plans for 2025 involve new Punta Cana, Las Vegas routes

Even though the peak sun-seeking period will be over for the year, Frontier Airlines  (FRON)  just announced that it will launch three new routes to popular vacation destinations: Washington-Dulles to Las Vegas, Charlotte in North Carolina to Tampa and, internationally, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) to the Dominican Republic’s Punta Cana.

The new flights, set to launch on May 1, May 2, and May 17, respectively, are an effort to keep up with competitors that have also made a massive push to serve these cities.

“The addition of these new routes is part of our mission to offer consumers affordable, convenient flight options to a wide variety of destinations throughout the U.S., Caribbean and beyond,” Frontier’s Vice President of Network and Operations Josh Flyr said in a statement.

The flight between Charlotte Douglas and Tampa International Airports will run four times a week starting on May 22 (twice a week during the first week after launch), while the route to Punta Cana from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) is set to run daily, pending approval from the local government.

Frontier already flies to Punta Cana from cities including Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, Tampa and San Juan in Puerto Rico among others.

The Las Vegas-Washington Dulles (IAD) flight is also slated to run once a day. Frontier has not yet announced which type of aircraft it will use for the flights but the carrier owns a fleet of Airbus A320 and A321  (EADSF)  planes.

To promote the new routes, Frontier is offering introductory fares of $29 for the Charlotte-Tampa flight, $69 for the Washington-Las Vegas flight, and $99 for the Cincinnati-Punta Cana flight each way.

The fare needs to be locked in before 11:59 p.m. EST on Thursday, Feb. 6, for travel between the flights’ launch and Aug. 18. The blackout dates are May 22-23, 26; Jun. 28-29; and Jul. 3 and 5-6. The availability of each price depends on the time of week.

The promotional fare is for Frontier’s lowest fare class and does not include seat selection, baggage or any airport fees or taxes that will be tacked on to the final price.

“All reservations are non-refundable, except that refunds are allowed for reservations made 7 days (168 hours) or more prior to departure and provided that a refund request is made within 24 hours of initial reservation,” Frontier specifies.
